Using existing infrastructure for high speed broadband access in a new way is a fantastic idea. Since it already exists, you save time and money using it. The Q-Lan technology uses existing in-building coax-cable installations, originally intended for analogue TV and radio distribution. Q-LAN can easily provide 100 Mbps to each antenna outlet. LAN uses a spectrum overlay technology, based on the industry standard Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA). It utilizes the free capacity above 862 MHz for services as IPTV, VoIP and high speed Internet in parallel with existing Cable TV service. The Q-LAN access system uses up to four channels per coax-cable in the spectrum between 862 MHz to 1500 MHz for data communication in the building. A single coax-cable can carry up to 400 Mbps. Q-LAN ensures high broadband capacity to every home.
Q-LAN is the right home access networking technology to ensure long-term success of IPTV and broadband deployments. Operators and service providers are evaluating networking technologies and Q-LAN meets future requirements well within a set of parameters:
